Lichtphänomene können Kompositionen anregen, aber auch Hörerlebnisse einfärben. Beides nutzt Georg Friedrich Haas, der Licht sogar einmal zum Musikinstrument erklärt hat. In viele seiner Werke integrierte er Lichteffekte, und sein drittes Streichquartett ist in völliger Dunkelheit aufzuführen. Das Trio Phanos spielt Haas‘ Miniatur »Ins Licht«, ein Extrakt aus seinem Cellokonzert, zur Eröffnung und zum Abschluss des Programms und lädt dazu ein, eine der beiden Wiedergaben mit geschlossenen Augen zu verfolgen.
Marina Khorkova will in ihrem neuen Werk ebenfalls dem Thema Licht nachspüren, und in Kaija Saariahos Klaviertrio verrät bereits der Titel den Lichtbezug: Die Finnin komponierte »Light and Matter«, während sie von ihrem Fenster aus auf einen New Yorker Park blickte. Der ständige Wechsel des Lichteinfalls auf die glitzernden Blätter und unbeweglichen Stämme der Bäume inspirierte das Material des Stücks. Verhält sich Licht zu Dunkelheit wie Klang zu Stille?
Dieter Ammans Komposition »après le silence« entstand nach einer langen Phase künstlerischen Schweigens und ist geprägt vom Bedürfnis, sich nun möglichst umfassend mitzuteilen. Unterschiedlichste Ausdrucksmittel lösen sich in kaum vorhersehbarer Weise ab, scheinbar Zielgerichtetes verflüchtigt sich, kein Zustand ist der endgültige.

Das Konzert wird vom WDR für den Hörfunk aufgezeichnet und kann am 20. Juni 2025 im Radio und anschließend für 30 Tage auf wdr3.de nachgehört werden.
