new cd release this week from wergo “rosebud” - music by matthias krüger, featuring my recording of his solo piano piece “renk”, which he wrote for me in 2015. it’s a fantastic cd of solo and ensemble works that track his compositional style over the last decade, and the logical amalgamation of music and motion that made its first appearances in “fuckin a’” and “renk” to his newest creations like “rosebud” for dancer and live electronics. he’s a great friend and a great composer, and i highly recommend everyone to have a listen to this exciting new album! ::

so sorry not to have been there in person, but thrilled with the news that my recording of beat furrer’s “spur” with quatuor diotima has won the “grand prix” at the 2026 académie charles cros awards in paris! congratulations to all - wonderful composer beat furrer, @quatuor_diotima, @johannsthorsten, and the team at @bastillemusique 🥰 et à bientôt paris! ::

between an intense rehearsal schedule as musical director and trying to keep up with a six-going-on-seven month old, i didn’t even find time to post about the journey of bringing “die gänsemagd” to life and the subsequent 14 shows (in 18 days!) at the hamburg staatsoper to life. congratulations to the ensemble, the singers, and the directorial team of tobias kratzer and matthias piro on this enchanting new production. it was a pleasure to conduct this clever score from iris ter schiphorst and to see the joy it brought to so many of our audience members 🪿danke und bis bald, hamburg! ::

thank you to everyone who came out to our concert at acht brücken festival this past tuesday. it was a special night - the debut of trio phanos with the superb violinist tianwa yang and cellist oren shevlin, playing the music of kaija saariaho, dieter ammann, georg friedrich haas, and a world premiere by marina khorkova in the beautiful wdr funkhaus as part of our dear acht brücken festival - whose presence has been a beacon of creativity, joy and inclusivity during my entire time in cologne - and whose cut in funding from stadt koeln is still a shock and disappointment to the whole community and also for our little family - our first experience getting through intensive concert preparation together! :: photos 1-4: jörn neumann

just announced - a particularly special concert at acht brücken festival for me this year with my new ensemble - trio phanos! featuring tianwa yang (stunning violinist - opus klassik's "instrumentalistin des jahres" 2022) and oren shevlin (amazing principal cellist of the wdr sinfonieorchester) and i, we will be traversing the whole gamut of the piano trio repertoire, but start our journey off with "ins licht" a programme with some incredibly intense repertoire by dieter ammann, kaija saariaho, georg friedrich haas and a very exciting new premiere by marina khorkova may 13th, wdr funkhaus, cologne ..can't wait! ::
